CA. Once the case happened I moved to KS. Never dealt with the case/fines. I think it’s like $1,700 owed that just got switched to a new collection agency (LBGS?) 01/2025.

I’ve never received a letter or communication from them, but I just moved back to CA a few months back. I have not filed a CA tax return to know if they’d take my CA taxes. From what I’ve researched, I’m pretty sure when I go to claim this, the winnings will go to the court fines.

Has anyone won an amount that they had to complete a claim doc and had their claim intercepted?

+35 @BEERounds Insider with the Lottery. You will need to file a claim form and either drop it off at a Lottery Office or mail it in. Lottery offices will only write a check for up to $1000. They will help you submit this as a claim for and submit to the main office. As far as what you may or may not owe in fines, these will be taken out before final payment. A good way to look at this is your fine will be taken care of and you won’t have to worry about it anymore. You may have a warrant for this and not know it. Next time you’re stopped, it could be worse than a ticket. It could jail time. Lottery will report this and any past due fines, child support, taxes, etc will be collected before final payout. You will also be responsible for federal taxes, which will be reported. If you have someone cash for you, they will be responsible for the federal taxes. It’s $2400. Why risk it? Pay the fines and move on with your life not having to worry!

+18 @BlankyPop I’ve cashed a few $1,000 tickets at the lottery office. They just give you a check. That’s it.
