What Would You do if You WON?
By Syd_Lexia+38 Is the death of $2 lottery tickets inevitable?
Last year we saw Mega Millions go to $5. In two days, Lucky for Life is going to $5. Hype and sales for Mega Millions are an all-time low, but overall revenue has remained strong, so absolutely *zero* lessons have been learned by our cruel and evil lottery overlords.
It really feels like $5 lotteries are going to be shoved down our throats, whether anyone wants it or not. Yet another great idea victimized by late stage capitalism. Yet another product being priced out of the grasp of everyone but the well-to-do.
Enjoy Powerball while you can, because I'm sure it's only a matter of time before some bozo with a bachelor's degree in math at the Powerball offices gets a hard-on for metrics and decides that Powerball will make more money at $5.
Not only does the house always win, but you're not even invited to the house anymore.

+16 @Pags4272 I haven't bought a single MMs since they raised the price. Tomorrow will be my last purchase of Cash4life (obviously) with no plan on buying into the new tickets. They won't keep raising prices if people don't pay
+15 @mbd34 I doubt it. Mega Millions sales dropped because of the price hike and Powerball sells much more. Raising the price would be a mistake.
