I have been playing the lottery, mostly lotto and power ball occasionally for past 20 years since I was a broke college student. Never more than $20 a year. Never won more than $15 bucks obviously.

Today I bought lotto ticket after a long gap and looked up the jackpot 1.8 million. Cash value option is 625,000 after taxes. It is a crazy amount and I used to dream about all the amazing things I would do if I won it before. I was trying to enter the same dream land and realized, shjt I cannot even pay off my mortgage with that amount.

Unless I am win one of those mega jackpots, my life would remain the same. Takes the shine out of playing the lottery with that realization. I realize I am in a privileged position to say this, but I do not have anyone to share it with. Make of this what you will.
